Mike and Mal Leyland, also known as The Leyland Brothers, were Australian explorers and documentary film-makers, best known for their popular television show, Ask the Leyland Brothers. The show ran on Australian television from 1976 until 1984.
The most adaptable of all Australian marsupials are shown in a segment on possums, it includes the ever popular Ring Tail Possum and the Furry Brush Tails of Tasmania. By journeying down the full length of the Clarence River from Graton to the coast the Leylands look at the significance of this historic waterway in the central coast of NSW. Along the river they film a factory that produces matches from trees grown on the banks of the Clarence as well as the sugar cane industry at Maclean. A longer than usual look at one of the biggest rivers in New South Wales.
